Heidekate in Wittduen

Our autumn visit to Amrum was already a great experience on the second day when we got to know this excellent restaurant gem. We, a couple with two underage sons, were more than satisfied with the food, in fact we loved it. The somewhat unusual mix of the menu offered us all great variety for the next few days, because after a failure on the first day of our vacation (in a different location) we spontaneously decided to spend our remaining evenings here. We were particularly impressed by the excellent wine, several very different starters and various sweets for dessert. We also looked forward to the main courses every day: the children to possibly the best (and unusually crispy) schnitzel on the island, as well as a tender rump steak, we parents to a perfectly prepared, delicious lamb fillet and an unusually good hamburger (!), which, incidentally, turned out to be huge. As I wrote at the beginning: The mix offered in the Heidekate was versatile and 'exciting', it did our different, but definitely demanding tastes very well. Thank you dear Heidekate, you have not only upgraded our otherwise nice (one-week) short vacation with your very good food, but also with the nice and very pleasant and cozy atmosphere and the very friendly and forward-looking (! :-)) owner. We enjoyed spending some wonderful hours with you.

Above-average prices, the food on the other hand average. The service is rather cool, the cleanliness on the table marginal. Overall, the first and last visit, for the money there are much better locations on the island.

Thanks Conny for the nice service. My Tom Kha Gai soup tasted very good, nice and hot! We would love to come back. The person sitting next to me also liked the Big Bad Burger. The atmosphere was also very friendly and cozy.

Moin - we were all very satisfied. Great food - service was good - Corona rules have to be adhered to, the guests should just accept that, the restaurateurs themselves are not so happy about it. We would love to come back

Food prepared to the point, excellent! Service Frisian-tart restrained, confident and always attentive. We were here for the second time and will definitely come back on our next visit to Amrum.

Great food, nice staff and cozy atmosphere. Any time. Have just been back to the heather cottage, what can I say, just great. The garlic bread for 2 is addicting, the sauces for pan fish and pikeperch are simply sin. We'll be back next year, at some point the cook has to have a bad day so I can at least complain a bit

Unfortunately, we also had to make the experience of a very rude and cold staff, so that we immediately felt uncomfortable and unwelcome and would have loved to leave immediately if the hunger had not been so great. The food was acceptable but the attention to detail was completely lacking and it wasn't particularly tasty either. The feeling of being absolutely not welcome in the restaurant persisted through the evening due to the unfriendly service and we were glad to be back out of the restaurant to avoid the bad atmosphere. On Amrum it was the first and only time for us to experience such an unfriendly togetherness.

Unfortunately, I don't really know how to classify the restaurant here. It was a very rude reception despite a reservation. After ordering the drinks, the wine list was handed out only hesitantly, on multiple requests. After the order was placed, the behavior of the service gradually changed. Unfortunately too late. There was a used fork on our table when we got to our reserved table. This was until the drinks were ordered. The main course and the salad served with it were below average. The creme brûlèe was a ready-made meal. Likewise the chocolate volcano. The plaice was ok and the crabs were very dry. The pasta and salmon were ok, but not a taste explosion either. We did not receive any advice on wine. Never mind, there was a sommelier with us and we knew what we were ordering. Trying to explain the wine was pretty ... let's leave it at that. I give the third star to the sanitary facilities, they were clean. Otherwise it would only have been two stars out of five. There may be another chance soon.

The food is a treat for the palate, very tasty, the service very nice, conclusion, we would love to come back, you know what you have there .. A big compliment to all employees in the Heidekate restaurant, greetings and all healthy family Roth from Berlin

Nice location. If you want to sit outside, you have to go into the bar wearing a mask to disinfect your hands. Everyone can judge for themselves whether this really makes sense. The fish soup from the lunch menu was a disappointment for me and the mussels were quite sandy. Told this to the waitress politely. Comment: "It's not our fault." Probably my own because I ordered the soup ??? As I said, beautiful location with a great view of the lighthouse. From a culinary point of view, there is still quite a large gap between the heather and the blue sky, at least for my taste.

Ambience is nice and appealing. However, the food (three courses) was only average. This also applies to the north German cool service.

This is our first time on Amrum. Visited different restaurants. We liked it best in the Heidekate, especially the fish soup was great. We have been there 3 times in 13 days. We felt very comfortable and we found the service personable and above all typically Frisian direct. We Swabians can handle that too. I can only recommend it! The overall package is right. Reserve a table! Keep it up!

The service was very rude. My fried potatoes were almost cold, the fish fillet full of bones. Outside, an umbrella has tipped over, straight towards us. Of course that can happen. But it was not even asked whether everything is ok with us. There really are far better restaurants on Amrum that their guests will appreciate.

Cozy place, excellent food

Were not served despite the almost empty restaurant. Half an hour later, it wasn't really going on. You can only guess what it was, but you immediately noticed who is welcome and who is not.

We were eating there with six people. Each of us was very happy with the food. The waitress was tough, but she knows her trade. She handled the entire service in the restaurant on her own and also complied with the Corona regulations in an exemplary manner.

Enjoy what the stuff holds! Definitely book ... Top address. Personally I love the Filetgericht named "Every year again"
